"The Avatar anthropomorphic robot developed with the support of Russia's Foundation for Advanced Research Projects will have to overcome an obstacle course and operate vehicles by the end of the year. This was announced by Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council and Deputy Director General of the Foundation for Advanced Research Projects, Vitaly Davydov. "In accordance with the program of this project, the robot will have to pass an obstacle course by the end of the year. The Avatar will have to overcome its elements, demonstrate the ability to operate a variety of technical devices, including a car, and climb a ladder," Mr. Davydov stated. The anthropomorphic robot was originally developed in the interests of the Ministry of Emergency Situations to ensure the work of rescue services under dangerous and severe conditions. However, it was decided that most of the robot components could be used to accomplish combat missions…"
