"Just painted Baltic Pagan horse " Topic

I've been painting wargaming figures for the last few days, I find the concentration needed to paint figures takes my mind off the nagging pain from the hole my wisdom tooth used to be in… these are 13th centaury Baltic Pagan light horse for my Northern Crusades project for "Lion Rampant". They are 28MM "kit-bashed" plastics, that is assembled from different sets, which is one of the great things about plastics! The horses, bodies and some arms are from the Fireforge Mongol cavalry, heads, arms, cloaks, shields and weapons are from the Gripping Beast Dark Ages Warrior, Viking and a couple bits from the Saxon set. The "chainmail" is from a cut up nylon stocking I got at a dollar store, as suggested by one of the Trumpeter club members. I haven't been able to get much information on what the Baltic pagans looked like but as they were backward and uncivilised people on the edge of Europe (at least according to the Christians who were massacring them) but it appears that Viking era arms and armour did continue into the 13th Centaury. Also they could double for mounted Vikings in a Dark Ages game. I've since discovered online some Baltic Pagan runes and symbols I will be painting on the shields of some of the upcoming foot soldiers. It's kinda tricky politically as many of these rune symbols were hijacked by the SS, the most famous of course being the swastika. The "snow" (in the Baltic it was common to go to raiding in the winter as the ground and rivers were frozen solid while at other times of year much of the terrain was a swampy morass) is made of Celuclay, a powdered form of paper mache, which has been washed with Paynes grey and drybrushed white.
