"Cigar Box Battle Mats? Anyone?" Topic

I've been toying with the idea of buying a couple of mats but the Hotz threads on here have given me pause. I'm not in a huge hurry for my mats, but I would like to have them within two months of my order.

That being said, how about Cigar Box? Their stuff looks great. Has anyone ever ordered from them?

Same here, Cigar Box delivered promptly. There was an order mix-up, but they corrected it quickly. Good customer service.

Hotz, I ordered some stuff nearly two years ago – yes, years – and never received! I can't tell if this is outright fraud or he is a really, really bad businessman.

The Cigar Box folks are easy to deal with: reasonable shipping time and quick responses to queries.

I've bought eight mats over the past three-four months. I could not be happier with product quality or service.

If only they did hexes, I'd buy some more.

Just bought the Europe 1 mat from Cigar Box and couldn't be happier. Great service, fast shipping and a great looking product. It came folded up in a mailer, but there are no fold lines in it when laid out on the table. I will be buying a coupe more from them soon.

I have both Cigar Box and Hotz. They are both fine quality, though Cigar Box's are better looking with the prints on them. Cigar Box ships them fast, while Hotz gets around to getting them to you, though I never waited more than 60 days.

Honestly I am very pleased with both sets, but Cigar Box really nails the speed and quality thing well.

I own eight Cigar Box mats and can't recommend them enough. Plus, they ship and arrive in 1-2 weeks.

They look lush, but I wish they did bigger 8'x6' mats.

Don't own any yet… but I plan to! They look great in person.

Great mat….I ordered mine and it was delivered in one month.

I ordered from Hotz a few months back. Took about one month to receive my mat.

Got two Cigar Box mats from gaming buddies as Christmas gifts. My friends gave them high marks for their service and I love the mats.

I understand Cigar Box mats are felt. Some felt I have used in the past had a surface that was not very smooth. Tended to make figures set at odd angles. Do Cigar Box mats have a smooth surface? The other problem I had was I suppose due to static. I would pick up a figure to move and sometimes the felt would cling to it a bit and figures on either side end up askew or fall over. I gave up on felt. I have held off considering Cigar Box over the felt issue. Would really like input from those of you using these mats.

Cigar box are not felt they are a thin fleece.

I am always amazed that someone can just make a statement without thinking and then go on about all the problems with felt. Just look at the website.

I have bought three mats from Cigar Box, they are very nice and will be happy to buy more.

Received my Cigar Box Mat promptly--no issues.

Placed my order on the 17th and got it today. Actually, I may have received it sooner; today is just the day I went to the PO Box.

Two weeks between ordering and receipt. And this mat is beautiful. I couldn't be happier!

I'm going to place another order for a tundra and desert mat soon!

Got mine at Salute – pricey but very nice. I am content.

There is a lot of bad press for hotz by TMPers but I have ordered several mats and always gotten them within a six week time frame.
