I started this project when Eureka came out with the Boiler Suit Apes figures. Since then others have also come out with Apes dressed as people with guns. I have a lot of figures. I also have a lot of modern forces (Ambush Alley and Force and Force) and I wanted to run an asymmetric game. I was partially employed when I started the project. Then I got a serious job and I stopped working on it.

Well, now I have a new home, with an external workshop for this stuff. I've been here for 9 months and it just felt right. Plus a friend was really keen on seeing the game come to fruition so there is that.

In looking at the figures I have I had to come up with "how, why?" answers for the game to make sense. I've decided that since some of the miniatures are apes in space suits – apeonauts…

So it makes sense that a 70's spaceship program failed, went through a time space rip, found the Planet of the Apes and they managed to reverse engineer the ship and make it back to our time where they are uplifting the species to make sure our planet becomes a Planet of the Apes as well. Perfect Hollywood sense!

I have a wide variety of figures for this game for both sides. I just have to finish painting them.

Next will be buildings and terrain. I've already started with Jersey Barriers, Red Cones, Garbage Cans and other stuff like that. I need modern buildings. Preferably ones that you can fight in… There are options. Lots of them. But first the hard part getting the figures painted.

I also have 28mm Blackhawk, Predator Drone, a bazillion die cast cars and trucks (way more than I'll ever realistically need outside of creating a game about gridlock.) I hope I can get good progress in the next month on it.

I love reading about people's Ape projects. Keep the updates coming.

outside of creating a game about gridlock
No need to play it on the tabletop, I'm an unfortunate LARPer when it comes to gridlock on the highways. frown

This sounds very cool!

I have a complete and painted Gorilla army that Eureka used to sell from the Original movies. I have Cavalry, infantry, artillery and a slave wagon. They are quite nice looking. However, I rarely use them since deciding on who they fight is my biggest issue. I'm thinking about finishing up more of my Post Apoc figs from EM-4 to do a battle based on the last original Ape movie 'Battle for the Planet of the Apes'.

Thanks,

John

I swapped their weapons for a sc-fi look. I got them from VOID range:
