Whilst attempting to locate a suitable 1930s panel van for my super-clowns, I came across the following website and range of figures:

1:43 (O Scale) civilians figures cast in pewter, covering a wide range of professions. They have a scoutnmaster, lathe worker (and lathe), ex-servicemen in several states of intactness and female footplate crew in shorts(!). I've only just briefly touched the surface, as there appear to be over 300 different individual models, for about £3.00 GBP each. From the pictures, sculpting seems to be pretty good too.

Not an era I currently game, but should you need a specific model to represent your character in Pulp Alley or such, might be worth taking a look?

Good find.

Fine if you game with 40mm figures, but too big for 28mm.

I have some of them that I bought for a non-wargaming project. I can vouch for the quality of the sculpts and casting. MajorB is right, they'll tower over most 28mms. Still, as Carrion Crow says, to represent a specific character they might work for you.

Not having much experience with model railways, other than Plasticville buildings, I just assumed that 1:43/O Scale was roughly the same as 28mm, so apologies on that front.

However, suitable individual figures could be mounted on plinths as statues for your town square, as they do tend to be larger than human-sized, perhaps?

I got very excited years ago and bought a bunch but, as others have said, too large for 28mm, even 'heroic' size. Very nice pieces though and some would be great for statues etc. Charles C.Stadden's son, Andrew, does railway figures in smaller scales that are great but he hasn't been persuaded to 'biggerize' them as yet………he also does some 1/43.
