I posted about this before – I'm running a Pulp Alley game at KingdomCon in San Diego in late April that's a mashup of The Big Lebowski and Mars Attacks.

Tonight I ran it for the first time. Some of the terrain still needs to be finished, and there's the occasional odd or end that needs finishing, but I'm 95% there, and I still have 6 weeks until the con.

Tonight I needed to answer 3 questions: Will this work on a 24" x 24" area? Do I have enough terrain? How long will a game take? I was happy to be able to answer those questions with Yes, Yes, and about an hour.

The dude abides

That needs to be a special rule in-game.

Agreed! As well as "This aggression will not stand, man"

The pieces look great. Can you take a shot of what the whole table would look like?

How were the Martians to paint up?

Good luck with your game!

blooddave12 Mar 2015 11:16 a.m. PST

Thanks guys!

The Dude has "Danger Sense : This leader automatically passes the first peril they encounter each turn"

I could totally rename that to "The Dude Abides". In fact, I could rename several of the abilities to better match the movie.

Would that be confusing?

The martians were fast and easy to paint. Not the best minis, but not bad.

That Valkyrie chick sure looks familiar.

There should also be a "beverage involved" event with White Russians.

Don't mess with the Jesus.Where did you get these? Did you make them?

blooddave12 Mar 2015 1:53 p.m. PST

The Lebowski mins are from Impact Miniatures. link

The Martians minis, the mat, and the terrain are from Mantic's Mars Attacks game.

Won't be confusing if you put the special rules in this format..
Special rules
The Dude Abides (danger sense page xx)

of course, the martians will have there special rules as

ACK ACK.. ({special rule} page xx)
ACK ({special rule 2} page xx)

Your Kidding13 Mar 2015 2:31 p.m. PST

For the Martians you might have a "We come in Peace" rule for initiative, or "fear of doves". And the Dude, if he finds a carpet, "It really brings the room together.". Sounds and looks like great fun.

This looks like a really fun scenario for Pulp Alley! Thanks for sharing the pics. :D

I'm coming a bit late to this thread, but how tall in mm are the Impact not-Lebowski figures, on average? Are they more 'heroic' 28mm like GW, or 'classic' 28mm, like Copplestone?

blooddave20 Mar 2015 11:39 p.m. PST

@TwinMirror: I figured this was the best answer I could give you:

Thanks dave, that's fantastic!
Now to go and double-check the height averages of my minis…the Dude and his gang are a really great set!

I don't know what you use to indicate the person with the initiative, but I've found that a simple 'old time radio microphone' works great and encourages commentary (beside being easy to pass around):

This is easy (and cheap) to build and has a nice Pulp feel to it.

"sorry to see donny go"

make sure to have a "couple of oat sodas".

I ran 2 games for Tabletop Day this past Saturday. As a result, I swapped out one of General Tor's abilities to make him more useful in combat.
