Please support the Kickstarter for the AVID assistant.

link

This project is a computerized version of the AVID. For people who already play Attack Vector: Tactical and Squadron Strike, it makes managing multiple ships easier and speeds up play. It removes errors in orientation, and it moves some of the head-bendy conceptual tricks from your brain to buttons on a tablet or phone. For people who've tried to get other players to the table, the AVID Assistant removes all of "am I doing this right?" questions from newbies.

Risks? There's already a functioning, tested program. Ken and the development team put a lot of work into it, and it handles the three basic functions of the AVID, including heading changes (shown in the first image below), shooting bearings (second image), and mapping bearings to firing arcs (third image).

Check out the Kickstarter for complete information and a list of nifty rewards!

Will it work with a iPod touch?

Ad Astra News11 Mar 2015 9:38 a.m. PST

It will, but the screen will be a little small.

For the web version, you'll need an Internet connection. If the Kickstarter raises enough money to create the app for iOS, no need to an Internet connection.

A native app for iOS funds at $9,500 USD, but we need to make a final lunge for the next two stretch goals--full-fledged plotting in the app!

Will it work with a iPod touch?</q?>

I've just found out that while it will theoretically work, you'll need a stylus because some of the controls will be too tiny to work effectively with a finger. 5.5" is the minimum that's spec'd.

Sorry for the bad information.

Made it all the way to the $13,000 USD stretch goal!

If you have one of Ad Astra's games, check out the box miniature stiffeners reward: link They're pretty cool and each sheet is only a $10 USD add-on. (Laser cut!)
