Last post, I promise :0 She is now live. The whole burrito too: Campaign rules, a decent handful of optional rules, an army and scenario generator and a ton more. All you need to make the time from "buy miniatures" to "fighting a brigade level battle" as short as possible. For the uninitiated, each stand is a company and the game plays on a 3x3 foot table (or smaller) in about an hour and a half. 70 pages, 9.99. Go git 'er! link |

Having a preview option on the order page is nice, but the font in the preview is so tiny, it's illegible. If I click on the order button, am I getting an electronic download, or something mailed to me? Can these rules be played with 10/12mm, or are they specific for 6mm? TIA. |

Yeah, the previews get miniaturized :/ If you do the "full page preview" it looks fine (at least for me, using Chrome) Not sure if there's anything I can do to change it on my end, the actual game is in a pretty readable 11 point font. It's a PDF download, 70 pages. You could play in 10mm and not have a problem. Only issue would be that you lose a little bit of the visual "ton of dudes on one stand" effect :) |

FiveCore family of games Which is what? |

Hagen - link and link All the games share a similar turn sequence where you can usually move only a limited number of troops, an integrated firing mechanic where the initial dice roll tells you whether the target is okay/pinned down/running away/taking hits/out of action. No follow up morale or damage rolls. |

Picked the rules up last night and gave them a quick skim, really like how they look. Still trying to figure out my basing, leaning towards one company being 3 bases of 30mm square with a couple of 3mm vehicles on each. How critical is base depth though? Will you have a Yahoo group or something similar for your games, for us to hash out unit qualities etc.? I saw on the other thread there are some fan-based unit lists coming soon, so I'm looking forward to them. Couple of quick other questions – what would you consider heavy recon? BRDMs or Lynxes qualify? I also wondered about the different tank platoon sizes between NATO and the Soviets (4 vs 3), I don't really want to give the Soviets fewer companies per battalion for something as key as that, so I was thinking of giving NATO companies the heavy tank platoon attachment to show they're stronger (but that could mean a lot of attachments). Any thoughts? Thanks, Chris |

Boy – thanks for buying! There's a general yahoo list, pretty quiet but you can liven it up :) link I'd say BRDM's would be a good candidate for heavy recon or that French armoured car sporting a 90mm gun. To an extent it might be a question of intent: If the recon element is expected to fight, it's "heavy". For the tank platoons, I'll be honest, I ignore that by figuring that the NATO company is probably a tank or two short BUT if you want a real answer, I'd say your suggestion is fine, particularly if it's an infantry brigade with a tank or two spare. If it was a battle between two tank brigades/regiments, I'd probably just sneak in an extra NATO tank unit and keep quiet. |

Thanks, I'll sign up for the Yahoo group, didn't see it when I searched before. I'll try to liven it up once I get some thoughts together. Thinking it over more, I think for a fresh NATO vs. fresh WP tank battle I'd use the attachment to show a stronger NATO company, but for later in the conflict once both sides start to burn up, the WP could get fewer companies per battalion and NATO would just be normal. |

I should have thoughts the issues at a platoon level were not comparably to running a brigade. |

Hagen – Ranges, the ways weapons function, how susceptible units are to fire, the support available outside the combat troops are all different. The way it works is that the combat system is "results" based. When I shoot at you, all we know is that you are now either still okay, you're hitting the dirt, you're running away, you've taken hits or you are no longer combat effective. Contrast with how a lot of games work, where it's more step by step: I roll to hit, I roll to do damage, you roll for morale, we remove one guy from the table. No caffeine this morning but I hope that makes sense? :)
