Hey all. I'm wondering if anyone might know what decals would fit Agema's Romans – both their velites and the legions boxes. I'm inclined to use them to represent an allied legion on the assumption that they'd be equipped and organised in a similar way to Rome's own raised troops.

Not that I know what Rome's shields would look like, but looking at a number of galleries of painted minis has indelibly made me associate them with mixed shield designs.

Any advice on what would fit? I've been browsing LBMS and there are a number that look like they'd be the right shape, but the real trouble would seem to be the boss – a bit of trimming might work if the decals are otherwise too large.

Thanks!

There's a good case (if a largely negative one) for arguing that Romans in this period used plain single-colour shields with no design, but do whatever suits you. Allies, as you suggest, may have been different. They seem to have been raised by requesting cohorts from each community, not whole legions/alae, so may not even have been uniform at legion level. So you could for instance pick a uniform base colour but vary the design within an allied legion.
