Hey Folks,
Back in the day I recall seeing (I think in wargaming shops) wooden castle towers. They were wood construction, and covered in that textured faux stone spray (possibly Plastikote) that was grey speckled with grey and black dots. Some even had removable wooden doors. They weren't amazing compared to today's offerings, but were great in their time.

Can someone point the way to a picture of one? I recently repainted one and would like a pic of an original as a sort of before and after for my blog posting.
Thanks!

I remember those at FAO Schwartz in the '60s

Just to be clear, I've already fully utilized Google image search with all the relevant terms even down to possible names of the finish and I haven't found it. I wouldn't come asking for help with picture if I hadn't already done my homework.

Sabre6,
It's very possible it was a toy. The height of the battlements seems good for 28mm, but it has a removable top and it is probably tall enough for a 54mm toy soldier. My memory on the issue is a but fuzzy, but I'm almost certain I saw it in a store as recently as the 90's. I suppose it could have been sold in one of those toy stores that sold Britain's toy soldiers.

Another clue: Mine has a doorway on each side of the tower. A piece of what appears to be wood trim slides into slots to cover each doorway. It functions like a portcullis but looks like a door.

I pretty sure I know the piece your looking for. The company also did a sci-fi fort. The later had grey/black speckled paper over a plywood sloping walls. I was working in a game store in the 90's and we sold them. Trying to remember the manufacture. If it comes to me I'll post again.

Thanks FABET01,
We're on the right track and my memory isn't totally failing me.
Come on folks, we can solve this!

The paint is dry so I took some pics of it. Here's one. The rest will be with the blog post when it goes up.

One additional clue it's not a toy, I just measured the inside of the tower under the roof. It's a smidge less than 50mm tall, not nearly enough for 54mm soldiers.

I am pretty sure your all on the right track. This looks like the 25MM castle gatehouse from the Grenadier miniatures warlords keep

I have one to sell if I can ever find the time to get it photo'd and listed.

That looks to be it! How cool!

That's the one!
The link says produced by "Dragon Castles Inc" so I'm going to assume that this might also have been sold separately for general sale.

Thanks folks, I know you all wouldn't let me down!
