Once you run out of horses, you still have to do something with the extra cavalry figures.

Hey! She's not Sancho Panza!

A lancer on a cow is probably the tamest of the other weird cavalry that crossed my painting table this week.

Actually I recently read a history of the crusades that talked about knights mounted on cattle. Evidently the Crusaders occasionally mounted knights on cattle when all of their horses died. It wasn't clear to me from the account if they actually went into combat that way or if they just used them for transport.

I think we have Milked this one long enough. Besides not too long ago we had those awesome dwarves on pork.. I mean pigs.

Orcs on Aurochs would work.

My favorite was a sketch of a Mindflayer mounted on a Beholder.

I've used moose to mount a fantasy highlander.

capncarp08 Mar 2015 5:46 p.m. PST

What? No Highlander cavalry on sheep?

Stepman309 Mar 2015 6:30 a.m. PST

Ewe have gone to far with the sheep comment.

The Highlander cavalry are not on sheep …

Ach!

… and the pigs are coming next week.

Thanks, all. And thanks for sidestepping the cock fight jokes, too.

Hey, now that you mention it …

Dedthom11 Mar 2015 10:07 a.m. PST

In Runequest you had nomads that rode all sorts of animals.
I don't see why a nomad tribe could not ride cows,
especially if they were mad…..

Don't be ridiculous … then they wouldn't be no-mad cows.
