Back story…
I've enjoyed playing Lion Rampant, so I got the rules for my birthday (thank you number 1 son)
I then bought 2 boxes of Perry's War of the Roses infantry, and my wife bought me their mounted Men at Arms 1450-1500.
Now I know very little about the period- I have a basic history, but I'm not sure of liveries etc.
However my friend knows a lot, and he had edited booklets on the period, so I asked him for advice on colours. He leant me some booklets on the period, one of which is 'The Battle of Towton 1461' by P McGill.
Because we have a beer or two (or three) during our games he had nipped to the loo. I flipped through the booklets, and happened to notice the first line of the Towton one is "The Battle of Towton was fought on Palm Sunday, 29th of March 1461"
Now following a conversation earlier today I happen to know that Easter this year is the first weekend of April. So we check the calendar.
Actual point of this post
Like 1461, this year Palm Sunday falls on 29th of March.
So this year is a chance to celebrate/refight the actual battle on the same religious festival.
While the anniversary will fall on a Sunday every 6-11 years (depending on leap years) due to the nature of Easter rarely will it be Palm Sunday.
