The first battle in the 1776 Trenton campaign will be fought on Friday evening at Cold Wars in the Marietta Room.
During the early morning of December 26, 1776 General Greene's division crossed the Delaware River in a raging snowstorm at Bordentown. Although the Hessian forces at Bordentown discovered the American landing just after dawn they were unable to destroy the American bridgehead, allowing the remainder of Greene's forces to land throughout the day.
At the same time, General Sullivan's division landed at Trenton and with the assistance of Brigadier General Benedict Arnold's division drove Colonel Rall's Hessians out of Trenton. Rall retired as ordered towards Bordentown, followed by Sullivan's division.
During the morning of December 27, 1776 General Greene advanced against von Donop, who retired to join with Rall's command, marching south from Trenton. At noon, General Greene's division advanced out of Bordentown while General Sullivan marched towards the combined Hessian command from the north.
The campaign is being run using the Carnage and Glory campaign system and the battle will be fought using the CG American Revolution tactical system. The results of Friday's battle will determine the future course of the campaign and two subsequent battles on Saturday at Cold Wars.
