Roy, I have enjoyed the progression and look forward to more, including the WSS article, the game and AAR. Where will you play in two weeks? I can only imagine the excitement of playing after a seven year build.

Condotta – glad you have enjoyed it – nothing special about the venue – trying to get a game in before spring break.

what did you uses to glue the towel material to the foam?

elcid109904 Mar 2015 7:27 a.m. PST

Wackmole, Initially wood glue mixed with very watered down plaster, later just wood glue. Once on we washed the towel with watered down wood glue to further stiffen it. The wash could also include the base mid-dark green (although we did this in two seperately washes).

I tried to follow the link to the 1644 yahoo group on your blog. It showed no such group on yahoo.

Thanks for letting me know. Just checked myself and it Must've died since I added the link. Shame as its a decent set of rules. Have deleted the dead link.

Roy,

Really outstanding work. Besides the terrain, great job on the figures. Who was the mfg for the Scots horse?

Thanks,

Mike

Great boards and I really like the village too. Top job.

My distant ancestor took part in this battle. He was the baron Rose, of nearby Kilravock Castle, and led his men against Montrose. I'd be grateful if anyone knew anything about what happened to him and his forces in the battle.

Hugh Rose of Kilravock?

Mentioned by Furgol. Rose led his men from Nairnshire (probably some sort of irregular clan unit rather than a formal regiment) to Seaforth's army at Inverness in Jan-Feb 45. In May he served with Urry at Auldearn. There appears to be no more mention of Rose & co during the rest of the wars.

Thank you Timbo. I know he changed sides after Auldearn, got beat again and died in 1649.

Timbo W07 Mar 2015 6:10 p.m. PST

Hi Tom, interesting, did he join Montrose? if so then beaten at Philiphaugh I guess?

Tomsurbiton08 Mar 2015 7:37 a.m. PST

I believe he was at Preston in 1648, fell ill during the campaign and died the following year. Most of the Roses tended to stay at home; his descendant entertained Bonnie Prince Charlie just before Culloden and met Cumberland just after. It's mentioned in John Prebbles book.
