I have been searching old posts in my quest to update my database on the Valley Campaign and there is a wealth of information here, much of it with references, by reading and searching old posts. I have found it one of the best reference sites on the web. Thank you to all who take the time to share your knowledge.

For instance this is what I found on flags in the last day just by reading old posts (still needs research but what a start):

2nd Virginia Infantry The 2nd Virginia was issued a blue flag with the state seal on the reverse and the unit designation on the obverse field
4th Virginia Infantry First National pattern or Virginia State ??
5th Virginia Infantry The 5th Virginia had a blue flag with the state seal set into a large single star on the obverse. The reverse had an eagle holding a First National Flag in the center of a large single star.
27th Virginia Infantry First National pattern or Virginia State ??
33rd Virginia Infantry First National pattern or Virginia State ??
21st Virginia Infantry First National pattern with a canton with 7 white stars in a circle around a larger 8th star
