Prussian Cuirassier Pallasch M1732

Total Length 1115mm (43.89 inches)
Blade length: 935mm (36.8 inches)
Blade width: 40mm (1.57 inches)

Can anyone please confirm if this is correct? If it is, and I have no real reason to doubt it, she's quite a monster of a sword, and depicted too short in many illustrations. :)

Cheers

Looks right to me – these were no dress swords but the real thing! They would need to be hitched up when the cuirassier dismounted, so as not to trail on the ground.

And yet in lots of pictures, eg Osprey art, the pommel's at the hip, but the scabbard ends (vertically) a good six inches above the ground. They must be 7-footers, those cuirassier fellas! ;)

Well, it's all giant Pommeranians, didn't you know :-). 7 foot was average height for these folks – as per the saying.

Indeed! :)

I found a few more references/surviving examples of both M1732 & M1742 cuirassier pallasch:

Another M1732, total length: 108 cm, 42.5 inches.
An M1742, blade length: 37 inches (94 cm).
According to Osprey's 'Rossbach & Leuthen' p.84, Prussian cuirassier pallasch 42 inches long vs Austrian 36 inches.

Similarly, Prussian M1732 dragoon pallasch, blade length: 93 cm, hilt length: 16 cm.

So everything is in the 42-44 inches total length range.

Cheers
