I was recently looking at the Song of Fur and Buttons book from Ganesha Games and was halfway to decided to collect a Teddy Bear army…

But when I went to Eureka's website I found the sad news that:

"From 15th March 2014, Eureka Miniatures no longer produces Mike Broadbent Designs 28mm Teddy Bear range."

Does anyone know what happened to this range? I tried to google it but can't find it anywhere else…

I heard that private collector bought the range for himself.

Shame. Hopfully someone else with the skills will come up with a similar range.

That is bad news if they have gone for good. I rather liked them and intended to purchase a couple of small armies having been inspired by TMPer DAF's Christmas game with his daughter, Emma. To my mind they were a great introduction to wargaming for younger gamers.

Shame.

They still have the good the bad and the cuddly range but many Teddy Bears seem to have disappeared. You can find some painted ones online.

I was looking for some of the pirate teddys a while back, and learned the disappointing news.

$102 USD for 17 painted figures. Yes, that screams "Collector" to me…

I heard that private collector bought the range for himself.

They were never my thing but that does seem a particularly odd thing to do – what's the rational? Are they going into production themselves, or do they just want no-one else to have them ? If true, then weird.

Hi Guys,
My Teddy Bear range was purchased by an Australian Gentleman residing in the USA. He works for the UN and was deployed to the Middle East. With all that has been going on over there, his return to Australia has been understandably postponed. Last I heard he was in Iraq and was hoping to return sometime in March.
As soon as he is back, and settled in, he is looking at re-launching the entire range and adding to it as well. So it is a matter of when and not if.
When the range is re-released there will be noticed posted on all the major forums.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers
Mike

Thank you very much for the info, Mike. I will keep an eye out.

"and adding to it as well."

Hurrah!

That's some good news then! Thanks for letting us know, Mike!

Good to know. I've got a soft spot for anthropomorphic animals and it was always a range that in the back of my mind I thought I might paint up some day.

Mute Bystander03 Mar 2015 11:44 a.m. PST

My wife rejoices loudly.

Update:
I have heard from the new owner and because of all that is going on in Iraq he may not get here until late April.

Is there any more news on these?
My daughter and Mrs both want me paint them some…

Saxondog29 Dec 2015 3:40 p.m. PST

My mother has seen them. Wants a few to put in one or more of her dollhouses. Guess I need to hit eBay.

I have a few but never thought she would be interested.

Any news?

Mute Bystander31 May 2016 7:57 a.m. PST

Yes, my wife has expressed an interest in painting miniatures and asked me (the non-painter) to show her how…

Gulp!

Anything new on the Bears yet?

Guthroth03 Jul 2018 1:20 p.m. PST

Repeat question. I am so sorry I missed them when they were available.

Guthroth30 Sep 2018 7:51 a.m. PST

One more bump ? Looks like these have gone forever

Grey Heron23 Oct 2019 8:02 p.m. PST

Still no news on the Teddy Bears. So sad :-(

CamelCase28 Oct 2019 4:30 p.m. PST

Nothing?

Au pas de Charge18 Jan 2021 1:59 p.m. PST

I am interested in these too. Why would someone buy the range to hibernate it?

Saxondog07 Apr 2021 11:40 a.m. PST

Found mine…..was hoping for news to add to the group. <sigh>

FutureFarm23 Jan 2024 6:38 p.m. PST

I know this may be a dead-thread now, but in case anyone is still looking….

My daughter saw me painting my miniatures, she decided she needed her own. I searched and searched for Eureka Bears but couldn't find any at a price that I would feel good about a 4 year old playing with. Already having a 3D printer and some amateurish skills, I decided to make my own. The process is shown at compactwargaming.blogspot.com.

I am not set-up to do mass production of these, but could probably handle a few orders at a time.
