Is there an historical period/era that you have always wanted to wargame, but just never did? If so, what stopped you from diving in?

(a) I just could not afford the expense.
(b) I did not know anyone else who was interested.
(c) Too much work (painting all of those miniatures).
(d) I could not find a good set of rules.
(e) No, this has never occurred.

A and C.

Italian Wars Renaissance, HYW, Burgundian Wars, Wars of the Roses, and Samurai battles.

Still want to give them a try, eventually, since those armies/troops look superb, and many of the battles would be very interesting as well.

Mine are B & C for The Texas Revolution & Mexican American War.

D
Russo-Turkish War of 1877.

WW1
interested in it historically but the thought of making the trenches puts me off
Boer War
got some, Boers and British painted haven't played it yet
Samurai
hope to knock this one off the list by summer, figures being painted, playing should come soon!

I painted Polish and Turkish armies for Gush Renaissance. LARGE armies. Even when I supplied both sides, nobody wanted to play, let alone paint other armies. So I sold them.

That would be B.

f. I will one of these days. WWI in East Africa and the Middle East. FFL in North Africa (late 19th cent). A few other small scale periods. As I said. One of these days.

Tgunner27 Feb 2015 7:47 p.m. PST

The Civil War for me. It's all A.

mandt227 Feb 2015 8:12 p.m. PST

f. Not enough time.

American War of Independence
Korean War

Winston0127 Feb 2015 8:27 p.m. PST

b. Samurai and Italian War of Renaissance for me. I have made investments in time and money in periods no one wanted to play before. I am not going down that road again.

A and C – British Colonial Wars (my interests are NW Frontier, Sudan, Zulu, and Boer), Russian Civil War, and Mexican-American War.

and

F – WWI. I can never decide which angle I want to attack it from. I've thought about skirmish level, massive, operational level, somewhere in between, USMC vs Germans, Brits vs Germans, French vs Germans, just never seem to get anywhere. I even bought Pendraken US and Germans, just sitting in a box…

and

D – Modern Naval, with submarines, surface, and air all mixed into one, that is easy to pick up and moves quicker than a glacier.

V/R,
Jack

B & D – The Age of Marlborough and The Sun King.

GarrisonMiniatures28 Feb 2015 6:04 a.m. PST

Variation of C – basically my main interest is Ancients, I have frequent sojourns into S&S, WW2 and Predreadnoughts, so don't have time for anything else. I would like to do 7YW – no problem with figures, can cast as many as I want – just don't have time.

KTravlos28 Feb 2015 7:27 a.m. PST

A and C

17th and 18th century Europe. Italian Wars.

Axebreaker28 Feb 2015 11:37 a.m. PST

Always F(Time+Multiple projects).

Christopher

Some Chicken28 Feb 2015 12:36 p.m. PST

Sudan and the Crusades.

F – too many other projects awaiting either paint or table top attention.

Weasel28 Feb 2015 4:59 p.m. PST

Keep kicking around the idea of dark age / early crusade wargaming, once I find some rules that don't seem like it's just lining up two lines of troops and playing Yahtzee until one side runs away.

F – The Crimean War. I keep putting this off because I want to wait until I can do it "right".

Gennorm01 Mar 2015 1:06 a.m. PST

D – Saxons and Vikings

ordinarybass01 Mar 2015 11:29 a.m. PST

Steampunk.
B, E and A. No one in the club seemed particularly interested and I didn't see any fast-play rules that excited me which led to it not seeming worth the expense.

It's about to change though.
The Introduction of IHMN gave me some rules I could get behind and a few members seem a bit more open to it. FInally, the the RAFM airship pirates kickstarter made buying two forces a very affordable proposition. We'll see if it takes of this summer when my figs arrive.
