Kim Jong-Il may be gone, but it appears his speechwriter lives on: link The US is scheduled to conduct military drills with South Korea, starting in the next few days, and apparently the new leader doesn't like it. I suspect it is just more bellicose rhetoric, but with NK, you never know, since they occasionally sanction small, offensive actions in order to show their displeasure, e.g. bombarding islands and local waters with artillery, sending covert agents out in minisubs to conduct reconnaissance, and/or attacks and kidnappings, testing air defenses, etc. In one fairly recent action though, they sunk a South Korean patrol boat, killing a large number of SK navy personnel, so, our forces will need to be on guard, since little UN probably wants to make a statement, like his father did previously, in order to show he is a person to be feared. I doubt much if anything will come of this, but it certainly opens up some interesting air and naval gaming skirmish possibilities, as well as for some scenarios on land too. You can bet the professional wargamers are watching events closely. |

They've been saying this for years. Bring it on, I say. Let's see what they've got. |

Accept that this is a declaration of war against the United States and take actions appropriately. |

The manliest of US presidents and former 'Rough Rider' Teddy Roosevelt once said "Speak softly and carry a big stick." NK has been doing the exact opposite. They "talk the talk" but can't "walk the walk." |

I'm sure they have some nasties up their short, little sleeves, but – like Iran – just because they can sink a wooden mock-up doesn't mean they can take on the US Navy. |

More "fiery" rethoric from this moronic dwarf and his idiot cronies … The only thing that is going to happen, is it will be repeatedly reported in all the media forms. And he will get to see it on TV, etc., and think what a "badd dude" he is … while much of the world just laughs at him … |

Halifax wins the thread! Dear Littlest Kim: While I know you like to throw a tantrum every year when the Foal Eagle exercises happen, making a nuclear strike on the US mainland is not going to end well for you. If you are very, very lucky, the US will not respond in kind, and will merely stop keeping the South from invading. If you are NOT lucky, well, there won't be a single heir of Juche alive. For that matter, I suspect that the Korean Peninsula is going to become the Korean Island. |

Ah, yes… Little Kim must get his name in the media somehow… He'd better hope that no one ever takes him seriously; that would end quite badly for him and his cronies… @Halifax- LOVE IT! |

I just love this picture of the F-16 Elephant Walk at Khunsan Airbase in the ROK. Even though this is just a yearly "exercise", notice that every jet carries a full munitions load. I think this serves as a good reminder to the fatboy in Pyongyang that ruination is just 15 minutes away.
