The last game of FoW I played has been over 2 years ago and it was using 2nd edition. Once 3rd edition came out I sold off all my 1st edition books.

Now I have come across CROSSFIRE which I have tried to find for years, since I will probably not play FoW ever again, should I rebase my FoW guys to Crossfire standards or will they work the way they are when the rules arrive? (Any Crossfire veterans out there?) As I have A African Corp German Company, British Rifle Comapny, American Company, Russian Division and a Eastern Front German Division.

Or should I buy and paint more figures just for Crossfire? IDK what to do, ahhhhhhhhhhh! LOL.

They should work just fine! Try playing a game before painting more stuff. Shouldn't need much more unless you are adding support equipment or switching theaters. It's a fun game but a little different at first. Give it a try and let us know what you think.

There are several good support sites on the Web.

SOA: I don't play FOW. CF bases are 3 Figs. per Squad, 2 per HMG , 2 per Co. Commander and 1 per Platoon Commander.

But, there is no reason that multi-figure based stands can't be used to represent the above as long as both sides are based the same.

So, for example, if you have a 4 or 5 figure base and want to call that a Squad, that's fine.

All you have to be able to do is differentiate between Squads, HMG Stands, Company and Platoon Commanders.

I have played Crossfire with FoW based minis. As Joes Shop said, so long as you can distinguish the base types (easy enough with the small and mediums in FoW) you will be just fine.

Most of the Squad bases have around 5-6 figures each, the HMG's, Mortars etc. Vary from 2-3 each and the Platoon leaders are at 2 each and my Co.Cmd. have 1-2 or a diorama piece with 1-2 w/table, etc. With enough trucks, jeeps, tanks, planes and Artillery to light up Illinois for a week.

Yes, it will work fine, although you may want to paint up some individually based platoon leader figures. As long as you can tell the different types of element apart, it isn;t really an issue.

Funny this should come up as I just ordered CF a couple days ago and was planning to use my FoW since they don't see play for FoW around here much.

You'll need to make some platoon and company commander stands. Other than that, no problem at all.

One thing: for Crossfire you need a lot of terrain. If your table is clear the game won't be much fun. Put lots of terrain down and you will have flanking, counter-attacks, all manner of good stuff.

I play Crossfire with FOW based models. No problem.

you have to distinguish the platoons. I have put little lines left and right on the backside of the base. Left is company, right is platoon. So two lines, one line means second company, first platoon.

@Privateer4hire Me too, just ordered it from OMM, been wanting to play it for years now. If you're in Southern Illinois maybe we could get a game going (LoL)….

I'm going to have to get allot of terrain set up for it though, I have allot of Desert stuff but no cover with that, so allot of wide open spaces. Time to go to the Craft Store.

When I stopped playing FOW I used my FOW stuff for Crossfire. I just bought some command figures from Peter Pig to base up as singles. Crossfire is such a good game.

SoA, I would definitely play you but I'm in AZ :)

All Crossfire games at our club have been played using FoW based figures with no changes needed. Worked fine for all concerned – and no balance issues because all figures are based up to the same format

Well I might just buy some Italians and base them up for Crossfire and some more Tommy's as I don't have very many, just a Rifle company.

Everyone I use to game with always thought I was crazy cause all I wanted to do was North Africa and all they wanted to do usually was Eastern Front so they could use the big tanks and what not, where my armies consist mostly of Pz II's, Pz III's & a few stug's & Pz IV's, the rest is halftracks & trucks and PaK 40's, I don't even have an 88'. My only Tigers are for Eastern Front and I only have 2 which I never used when we played team battles….LoL.

You won't regret it, Crossfire is a great game. Basing makes no difference at all.
