Lovely classic-style sculpts. Always liked the Kai Lords, they've always struck me as an exemplary rendering of the "good guys" archetype, tireless guardians of all that is good in the world.

I could see myself assembling a warband of Kai Lords for games like Song of Blades and Heroes, if not (here I go again!) for the fact that of nine Kai Lord figures, there's only one with a missile weapon. But then again I suppose these figures were made for RPGs, not skirmish wargames.

Hi Rhoderic, the Kai Lord sculpts are the latest additions to a growing range of Lone Wolf miniatures being produced by Matchlock Miniatures to support the Lone Wolf Adventure Game (LWAG) which is scheduled for release this coming May. Following a successful Kickstarter last September, the boxed set and several supplements are now in an advanced stage of production. You can find out more about this exciting project here: link

Well, damn. Now I'm caught up in a flurry of childhood nostalgia for Lone Wolf, the Kai Lords, Giaks and all things Magnamund. I'd forgotten how enthralled I was with the Kai Lords as a young'un and now it's all coming back. They really were my ideal fantasy heroes in terms of thematics and visuals. Suddenly I'm painfully aware of their chasmal absence in my miniature collection.

And I was working on other projects! Joe Dever, you are unforgiven! grin

And to clarify, when I say they "were" my ideal fantasy heroes, I suppose I do rather mean they still are. The artwork and fluff in the Kai Lords section of the Magnamund Companion (and also the sections on Sommerlendings in general as well as Giaks) have become prototypical to me when I dream up my own fantasy fiction and imagery. I haven't been entirely conscious of it, but it's there.
