These are the two first squads of what will be a four squad company.
I've painted them as the 84th Inf Reg "Von Mannstein".
This regiment was formed largely by Danish-speaking recruits, drafted from the province of Schleswig conquered in 1864 by Bismarck.

Good
You achieved a very iconic realistic effect with that choose of color..WW1 German is quite difficult to choose

Excellent job! I just finished a regiment using the same basing and organization.

Can I ask what colours you've used for the uniform, it's spot on and looks great. As others have commented, fantastic work

Thank you all very much for the kind comments!

@Big Red: Good to hear, it confirms the notion that this will be an interesting format for company sized games. I'm looking into rules too at the moment. What are you going for?

@Johny Boy: Cheers, I did some Google-Image search on the early war uniforms to get that field grey right. It's very nice to hear that you think I succeeded. After some experimenting, I went for a combination of Foundry and Vallejo colors, adding GW washes.
Base color is Foundry 81B
Then that is washed down with some Nuln Oil
Mid-color is Foundry 81B with a tint of Vallejo 920 "German Uniform"
High Light is Foundry 81B lightened with some light grey.

Thanks again guys, it's always a pleasure to show ones work on TMP!

Chanzy,

Ah, yes rules. I'm looking into that too. Some initial thoughts include Black Powder, Rgt Fire and Fury, Rgt On to Richmond, Neil Thomas' 19th Century rules and maybe even his One Hour rules for a quick and easy game.

What are your thoughts on rules?

@Big Red: many good suggestions on that list of yours. I'd probably go with Black Powder, which is an open end platform easy to tinker with, and seems to offer more of a tool box. To really get the 1914-15 spice some adaption of the rules might be needed; I'm thinking to add something for off-board artillery and perhaps some kind of command/activation bonus/penalty for (un)successful reconnaissance flights. I'm also tempted to adopt distinct extra rules for different factions, to really underline the difference in military doctrine… Anyways, its early days still, but at least these are the thoughts so far!

Chanzy,

They sound like good ideas. I like your approach and hope you keep us up to date on this project! Thanks.
