MW/BG 383 includes an expert review of the "Bloody Big Battles!" rules. The BG website is here:

You'll have to buy your own copy to see the review in full, but highlights (for me) include:

"contains a number of original ideas which add subtlety to the outcomes"

"these rules give a quick and fun game, with a lot of period feel"

"well worth a close examination … We both recommend it as a valuable addition to the rules available for this period."

I am grateful to MW/BG's expert reviewers.

Received the rules from Caliver last week….just ordereded the scenario book and am setting up Mars la Tour with my 15mil collection( historical note: there was an Austrian unit at the battle….well actually I was short one French unit!)
Rules look very interesting for very large battles for which they are designed.. I generally play Black Powder which is my favourite but tough to do the larger 19c battles justice with BP
Thought the review in MW was good and interesting….any way great job Chris!

If you like doing the big historical battles and not just parts of them or bathtub versions, you will like BBB. My wargaming club has embraced them in a big way. I posted an AAR for Alma on Monday and we are going to give Shiloh a try next weekend. Plus we are REALLY looking forward to doing some FPW, APW, and RTW soon.

Regards,

Dave

Are these suitable for Napoleonic battles or are there any plans for a Nap version?

We have used them for some Napoleonic battles and they seemed to work fine as written. Napoleonics fans might want to tweak a factor or two here or there, but essentially BBB is suitable as it stands, and there are no plans for a Napoleonic version. What you are likely to see over time is Napoleonic scenarios for BBB being posted on the BBB group – eg I know people are working on Quatre Bras, Waterloo etc right now.
