Thought I would share these Samurai inspired Titan Marines from Rebel Miniatures. Pretty please with the way they turned out. A bit on my blog about inspiration and some.

Being (intentionally) GW 40k illiterate I don't see the same as some when looking at the banner decals on these – so forgive if they scream 40k to you!

Nice paint scheme! I went with Desert Stormtrooper colors with mine.

Redroom21 Feb 2015 12:09 p.m. PST

nice troops, banner came out very well

deflatermouse21 Feb 2015 12:12 p.m. PST

whoa momma those are excellent.
I went with just black and white for mine. (painters remorse now)

Yours are admirable work.

stroezie21 Feb 2015 12:37 p.m. PST

Wow, Renraku Red Samurai, Cool.
Makes me want to run some Shadowrun again and drop these on my players :-))

Grignotage21 Feb 2015 1:31 p.m. PST

Very cool!

Looks awesome! I've always thought about making these guys more japanese than German, but I've never seen it executed! good for you. As for it looking like 40k, 40k is, itself, an extremely derivative, so I think you share more of a comman starting with it than a comman conclusion.

Apart from that the painting is good.

:)

What a great follow-through on an inspired scheme. They look great

War Monkey21 Feb 2015 7:03 p.m. PST

Thanks all for the positive comments. Glad they are sparking off ideas which is the intent.

The 40k reference is specific to the banner decal which is a Tau symbol I think. To me it's got a rising sun!

JImDuncan. How are you? Been a while and glad you chipped in. "Good" from you is high praise for a merchant banker's efforts!

Really well done!

JimDuncanUK22 Feb 2015 12:36 p.m. PST

Jimboba I'm mellowing in my old age ;)

Jimboba22 Feb 2015 3:20 p.m. PST

Jim, I'm so trying not to come back with a cheeky comment on "mellow" and "age".

See, I resisted!

I'll save it for face to face banter.

JimDuncanUK23 Feb 2015 5:49 a.m. PST

Well done Lad!

They do look great, I was going to use the Titan Marines for Japanese forces in my "victorious WWII Axis in space" project, though I wasn't thinking of doing them specifically in a samurai theme, but I'm re-thinking that now after seeing these.

Jimboba23 Feb 2015 1:26 p.m. PST

"victorious WWII Axis in space"? Sounds interesting. Got anymore info?

Longstrider24 Feb 2015 5:05 a.m. PST

Very clever! A nice blend between the usual Space Samurai look and something more plausibly mundane.

Jimboba24 Feb 2015 5:11 p.m. PST

I'm going to take "plausibly mundane" not to mean they are boring, but renditions that are 'sensible' vs the OTT shoulder-pad power legions…

What's 39K anyway?

Longstrider26 Feb 2015 1:40 p.m. PST

Yeah! Not boring at all. I just think it hits a nice balance between utility (I mean, the JSDF doesn't exactly look like Samurai) and fun.

Great idea with helmet crest !

Sorry for the late response Jimboba, I'm using the Titan Marines for the Japanese and Eureka's sci-fi Germans for, well, the Germans. One of RAFM's space infantry lines (the most basic) will serve as the US remnants in space. I haven't thought through more than that (like what to do about the British, Russians, and Italians), but I'm borrowing ideas from what I can find out about the old Star Reich RPG and the Iron Skies movie.

Jimboba05 Mar 2015 10:44 a.m. PST

Yes, I'm wanting some of those Eurekas German's and some of the really nice Heavies from Clockwork Goblin.

So, these chaps for the American's?

What if the British, in a bid to rediscover their Empire Days, went a little retro (from Black Hat):

Russians – have to be modelled on Cossack style winter garb.

Italians? Would they even turn up? Kidding!

Foreign Legion for the French?
