I've got some Clearhorizons products (both of the small scout/gunship type platforms and the Raven), a Khurasan Phalanx, and a smattering of GZG drones that are tragically grounded (and unpainted!) until I find a way to make them soar somewhat majestically above my table.

I'm looking for some bases of various sizes to achieve that end. Here's some details:

1. I tend to use a fair number of trees and buildings on my boards. Having bases that put the model up higher to clear some of these would be neat (this is what keeps me from using the otherwise perfectly good Khurasan base for my Phalanx).

2. If there's a clever way to attach the base so I could remove the dropship type craft for "landing" and all of them for purposes of storage, the better.

3. For the drones, I was going to attach them with a wire to an MFD base. They're small drones so maybe a coin or two for ballast. Any suggestions on wires/am I insane and should be looking into a heftier base?

These are the drones: link

Have you seen my flight stand video here:

As for the wire, you can get thin steel wire that can be painted black.

You can also check out the Armaments in Miniature flight stands They are made of thin metal legs to hold the stand above any intervening terrain, and a telescoping stand with a heavy duty magnet at the top.

Depends upon the size of your drones, I suspect.

Our Topgun Dogfight Flight Stands will work well, if the drones are decent sized (1/300th scale fighter size, or larger). They also work for Dropships, Drop Pods, Orbital Fighters, Aircraft, Dragons and other flying monsters, Grav Armor flying at treetop level and above, UFOs, etc. The antennae are about 6mms in diameter. They extend from 7" – 22" in height, and have swiveling magnetic heads (sold in matched polarity sets for easy gaming setup), to permit virtually any attitude of flight to be represented, including inverted maneuvers, as you can see below.

3", 4" and 5" clear, hex bases are available. The 4" ones are sturdy enough to support the Titanium, diecast metal, Star Wars (shown below) and Battlestar Galactica fighters, as well as 1/72nd scale plastic kits on them.

The magnetic heads permit easy and secure attachment of your models/minis to the stands, as well as very quick detachment too.
