I am getting a bit confused by this. Did they basically use the British para gun? Was there any difference?

What was the difference between the regular 57mm and the 6pdr?

The 57mm also didn't have the 6pdr muzzle-brake

The US Airborne 57mm was exactly the same gun as the British Airborne 6pdr, complete with muzzle brake. They were supplied from British stocks.

Thanks. Will be getting one for my paras tomorrow are cavalier.

Did they get a repaint or were they still in British colours?

I imagine that it was the same was Lend-Lease in reverse: They'd generally stay the same colour until a major servicing/repair period, when they'd get a fresh coat of paint. To be honest, British OD was remarkably similar to US OD (though they weathered to somewhat different shades), so I wouldn't get too hung up about it.

An interesting thing I've just noticed in that first photo is that they're about to load an APDS round. The US didn't manufacture any 57mm APCR or APDS, so the ammunition must have come from British stocks, along with the gun.

They came issued with a standard load of ammo. But can't seem to find what that was!
