Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a US source for wooden bases. I've ordered from the UK before and been happy, but I'm only after a few this time. I've also used Litko before, but now I'm looking for an alternative to source 50mm square wooden bases.

My google-fu is not helping me out here.

Thanks for any help!

I was going to suggest Renaissance Ink, but they've taken their web store down while they make changes to their product line and update their web store.

Other than Litko, they are (were) the only one of which I knew.

Battlefront/GF9 have laser cut bases, but you need to catch them at a convention.

Dear Fergal

Depends on the Size. If you want smaller wooden bases than look in A.C. Moore where they frequently have squares of wood cut for parquetting and other craft work. If a little larger, go to HOME DEPOT or LOWES and they will have extremely regular cut basswood boards in various sizes. I use large bases and mount an entire regiment on one base (36 figures, 2 color, 2 officer, 2 musician 2 NCO and 28 other infantry on a 3.5" by 8" stand. You can buy these fairly inexpensively and cut them down yourself with a jig saw or table saw.

Cost wise it's dirt cheap to anything you can get through the hobby, much more durable and robust.

Ah, I would give Litko a look see. You can specify base sizes and materials. Always prompt service.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I live in the sticks, more than an hour from someplace to browse and look for solutions. I'm looking for a mail order place.

I've used litko before, friendly service, but I usually have to send an email after 2-3 weeks asking where things are at. I didn't want to go into detail, but I'm looking for a different place to order from.

Know anyone with a table saw? With a cross-cut sled, you can knock out dozens of bases that size in just a few minutes. Buy the stock at the places suggested above, cut into 50 mm strips, then cut the squares. It is not cost-effective for anything less than 40x40 mm.

Crispy,

$3 USD in bases and $7.95 USD shipping?

No. I charge you what the PO charges me up to but not more than $7.95 USD.

If 10 bases is what you need I'd guess closer to $3. USD Cheapest you can ship a package (even 1 oz) is about $2. USD
