You could also look for a British 6 lb. The 57mm was the same gun in US service.

I had the same problem. I don't know that much about WWII. Then I discovered that the U.S. used the British 6 pounder.

I just got one recently from Scale Creep made by Warmodelling.

I bought the U.S. gunners from Scale Creep too.

The USA M1 version had US wheels and tires giving a different look to the gun, and also had the long barrel version from the beginning, if your model has a choice.

The RAFM model is quite a bit larger then the Airfix 6 pounder.

You can can convert the Airfix model by shaving down the end of the barrel. (If you do brits you need more Bren carrier then the guns anyway).

Use the Plastic Soldier 6pdr There is a different barrel and wheels on the sprue enabling it to be built as a US 57mm gun.

Crispin,
If you are a 20mm WW II gamer then you should join The Guild with all due haste. It primarily focusses on that era and scale and a nicer group of guys couldn't be found on the web. They have tons of pictures, hobby tips, battle reports, etc. all related to WW II. Check it out!

Is the Plastic Soldier kit still the best option for a US 57mm M1 in 1:72?

Is there a 57mm gun kit out there that comes with an American transport?

Cheers,

Furgie
