A lovely little japanese movie filmed in canada.
Lets face it, the story is simple, but the battle scenes are cool. biggest once of japanse warfare I know of.

But how to get it, I seem some times in on dvd used. but that all, no real dvd or bluray, and getting one with propper english subs is impossbible, those times I have dowmloaded it, normaly only the narator is dubed in english while all the japanse dialog is with out subs.

Yes you are right, it's a great film. For English subtitles try this : YouTube link
It's not Shakespear but I'm sure it will do.

Used VHS version is still out there. Probably not as pretty as the remastered DVD release, but it has the subtitles (and the Stuart Whitman narration).

Of course the Japanese DVD remastering is 20 minutes longer. Not sure what they cut.

Yeah, so did I.

Though I'm not sure if it's a matter of loving the foreign films or being disgusted by the lack of story in most Whollyweird releases…

Fired up the dvd now, the menu is in japanese, there is no english narrator, there is english tekst at the start, and SOME english subtitles. in that every 3 or 4 sentence got text. some times the speak for like 30 seconds with out any texing.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP02 Mar 2015 12:11 p.m. PST

Correction, it is the "good version"

The bad texting was just that one scene, the rest is ok, and there is narration in english.
