Originally two moves, then re edited to 6 part mini series.

Watching it a second time(so not a bad thing.)

The parts in Sweden is more intresting the the holy land parts.

It falls in some bad clichés, like arn meeting Saladin.

The costumes are good, looks like real metal mail, and thik ones at that. But there are some strange stuff. Arn only used his lance once.

In one sceen he leads an ambush on Saladins army. And non of the knights used lances, all just swords. Also non of them used shields, carrying hem on the back.

And then there is the old, armor is only for show, arn gets killed by glancing blow with a sword. Not any blow that would go through a knights mail.

In the final battle, after killing off many of the enemy with a trap, both sides charge at each other, no cohesian, just lets run at them with our sharp pointy things and hit them.

Not that many the infantry used shields either.

But still not bad, better then most hollywood stuff.

I've also watched and enjoyed it; all of your criticism is accurate but still a fun movie.

Saw it on Netflicks. Better than most if a bit slow at times.

Thanks Gun. I've ordered the second link. The music alone recommends it, plus your critique, plus the ratings, plus my interest level in this story/period, plus I like having stuff lined up to watch that I actually look forward to, to help slay the boredom. Hah!…

Its defiantly a must see if interested in this period. Even with my complaints, its , miles above horrors of braveheart. Also the crusaders use the propper swords, not the two hander thing in kingdom of heaven.

Also the mini series is aperantly the only way to watch it, alot of americans only got the condensed version, where both films were squeezed into 2 hours. It got alt of bad reviews, while most loved the 6 hour mini series.

I don't know why "Ride Home Tomorrow" got overlooked for a film. It has for decades been a favorite novel of this same story, well written, lengthy and ultimately tragic. I haven't looked into the trilogy of books that this movie/series is taken from (which, as I understand, "Kingdom of Heaven" also relied heavily upon), but I can recommend "Ride Home Tomorrow" if you want more of the same genre. link

Unfortunately, I've only seen the film version, but I'll look out for the mini-series.
I concur with Great War Ace, "Ride Home Tomorrow" is an excellent novel, although it's been a fair few years since I last read it.
