I think he'll have a bit of a go trying to get torpedoes for it, however.

That's pretty cool. A couple of smart high school kids can make him some torpedos.

Very cool.

Reminds me of the book Bandersnatch by Desmond Lowden. In the late '60s, an ex-Royal Navy MTB captain restores his old MTB as part of a plot to kidnap an Onassis type off his luxury yacht.

Check out the dust jacket:

Put it up on Kickstarter (or some form of Crowdfunding), make the person who donates the most $$$ his first officer, etc.!

Theres a few of those hulls in bembridge harbour – now houseboats by the looks of them .

"Paul Childs said the boat – moored at Bridgwater Docks – was the only known example of its kind, credited with sinking two German destroyers."

A MTB sank not one but two German destroyers?

Very cool that this piece of history is being saved.

Funny thing. Just the other evening I was looking thru Buck Surdu's "The Quick and The Dead" small craft rule set. I remembered seeing stats for MTB 219 in the supplement. According to the charts it carried 2 – 21" Torpedoes, twin .5" MGs and twin .303 MGs. Neat to see the real thing. Hope they can save and restore her.

Good to hear they will be restoring it to a vessel with a bit of dignity.

Houseboat?

What were they thinking?

Not that far from me – will have to see if I can find time to have a look.

You do get some funny things in bridgewater. That is pretty mental. Totally missed this!

Re; Bandersnatch. As a point of interest, Onassis's yacht Christina was originally a RCN frigate!

Good to know, thanks.
