guys looking at some of my old ww2 1/72 scale aircraft took out my measuring tape ,measured from top of tail fin to just below tail fin ,figures I got did not come anyway near published figures in books were they measured from bottom of deployed undercarriage to top of tailfin ? or from where exactly |

I would think highest to lowest of a/c itself. I don't think undercarriage was included but I could very well be wrong. |

I'd certainly expect undercarriage to be included – typically I'd take the height measurement to be its clearance – ie. how tall does the hangar doorway have to be to fit one in, since that's the main practical use for knowing how "tall" an aircraft is. |

Don't forget that usually on a tail-dragger the highest point is the top of the prop when one of the blades is top dead centre. |
