Sometimes I like to take a break from gaming models and work on something a bit larger-scale, and a lot more complex. I've been working on this one for more than a year (with several large breaks to do other projects) and it's finally done!
Many more photos at my phlog: link |

Very cool! I've pinned a few of your pics for reference as I ponder how to stow up my 1/72 scale LAV IIIs. Q: what's with the plastic bottles taped to the antennae? |

Looks like a good place to toss a chem-light in without having to find a roll of tape every time. |

Interesting idea, except they are upside down. |

The folding toilet seat on the side is the ultimate detail. Don't worry about the bottle upside down, not everyone throws away the screw caps. |

Spare wheel blocking the back ramp??? |

RST, you are correct, the bottles are there to hold IR chem lights for vehicle ID at night. They are upside down because it would be a pain in the rear to get spent ones back out if they were right-side up! The spare wheel is attached to the back ramp, so it doesn't interfere with its operation:
There are photos of LAVs with the spare tied to the side or the front glacis instead as well:

This model is the LAV-III with LORIT upgrade, which adds various bits of armour shielding around the turret and rear hatches, plus other bits and bobs. The radio masts show up in a lot of the pictures of later-deployment LAVs, though whether they indicate a reconnaissance or command vehicle, I don't know. I wasn't in Afghanistan and I haven't fought in a LAV or anything else. I had to rely on the internet and my own best judgement (guesses) for a lot of the details. I also got a really good book full of excellent reference photos here: link |

The Coyote is closer in size and shape to the LAV-25. The LAV III is considerably larger. |

I believe some of the antennae at the back are for the jammers. |
