I like it! I've been planning to do something very similar with my own urban terrain project, making a few semi-enclosed yards and courtyards to achieve a more realistic cityscape. The classic wargamers' practice of representing cities as perfect grids of buildings with a street in between each and every separate building bugs me a little bit – there are no yards, courtyards, dead-end alleys or anything like that.

Yards and courtyards also help "fill out" the table with scenery that doesn't take as much effort to construct as whole buildings do. That said, the amount of detail in that piece is impressive. I like how you've copied the grime and weathering of the real-world original.

Must try to remember to keep an eye on your blog. Copying the real world is how I, too, go about (or try to go about) terrain-building – although balancing it against gameplay practicality is also a concern, of course. "Fine" diorama modelling doesn't interest me much at all. You've struck a good balance there, IMHO.

That was my original intention. Thanks Rhoderic! :)

Thanos,

That's a good model you made and of something we don't see enough of in our town/city scapes.

Thanks for the idea,

Jim
