Hi all,

I am driving down from Canada through New York, Pensilvania to Virginia this weekend and will be there until the following weekend. Does anyone know of any shops or stores that sell miniatures and associated products that I could stop at and do some shopping?

Cheers

It really depends on which way you are going.

If you are going through the Western side of PA on 79 a slight detour will take you to Legions hobbies and games in the North hills of Pittsburgh just off of 279. They have a variety of historical, fantasy and sci-fi figs. As a bonus if you go that way you won't far from two Burgatories where you can stop for a delicious meal of grilled cow meat after your gaming purchases are done.

It does depend on your route though and where you are going in virginia. If you are heading towards the beach there is Atlantic Comics and games. They sell a bunch of different figures and board games as well as RPGs.

If driving down 95 the best stores I know of between New York City and Virginia are Maplewood Hobbies in maplewood New Jersey and Days of Knights in Delaware.

Days of Knights has the largest board wargame and RPG collection I have seen (in the area, NY to VA) in a brick and mortar store but the historical minis I remember are limited to Flames of War. Decent selection if I remember correctly.

Maplewood Hobbies has lots of hobby stuff like model railroading and a good selection of game rules (Warlord mostly but others too). They had a few GHQ miniatures and a very good selection of Flames of War. Probably a good selection of Bolt Action minis as well.

If you are going down 295 in New Jersey a stop at AAA Hobbies might be useful, friends tell me they have a decent miniatures selection and lots of hobby items. Personally I live less than 60 miles away though and never go there – online is much easier…

In Virginia, there's Game Parlor in Chantilly (that's off Rte 50 in northern Virginia), which has a fairly big selection of miniatures and games, And Dragon's Den in Short Pump (off Rte 250/I-64) in the Richmond area, which has a selection of miniatures and games. There is also a shop in Fredericksburg whose name and location I do not remember, World's Greatest Comics in Hampton (sort of off Rte 17), and other shops in the Virginia Beach area whose location I do not remember.

Fredericksburg store is Game Vault. Excellent store run by excellent folks.

Glen Burnie, Maryland's Games & Stuff is also excellent.

If you divert a bit while in Northern Virginia, I highly recommend Huzzah Hobbies.

In Virginia there is Huzzahs just off of rt 7 west bound. They have a better selection of figures than the game parlor.

Not entirely true PVT641. There is a growing Bolt Action community based out of GrimFoe Games in East Greenbush, about ten minutes north of Albany and right off of I87 if you're coming down from Montreal. There's also Zombie Planet in Colonie, about ten minutes the opposite direction from Grimfoe, also right off of I87. Zombie Planet has a larger selection of minis.
