I have Minden,NorthStar and Eureka Scots. The NS and Eureka are bigger figures but the way their bonnets fit their heads look normal. On the other hand the Minden bonnets seem awful small. Now the Minden figures are true 1/56 scale so I'm wondering if the bonnets on the other figures are oversized. If anybody has an opinion on this I would like to here it. link

Through the FIW, the bonnets were quite large, pretty well covering an individual's head, sort of like WWII berets. Sometime between then and the AIW, they were made more compact, and the crown was only marginally larger than the band in diameter.

There are some cracking images of the bonnet on't Internet and they seem of have come in a variety of sizes and have been worn in just as many ways. I don't have any figures in the military bonnets from the time of the American Revolution, but a number of rangers in the more traditional bonnet. I guess that supplies of your common or garden bonnet were made from available wool and to a pattern. You'd see variations and I've taken this approach with my figures. It was a cheap and effective way of keeping your head warm and dry and I wouldn't about variations in your figures, in fact the opposite.
