We are very pleased to release Scots for the English Civil War period, as part of the wider conflict in the British Isles known as the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Not only did Englishman fight Englishman, but the Scots fought their own civil war, with the Marquess of Montrose leading a small force to a string of thrilling victories, and the Confederate Irish fought for their independence which meant, improbably, fighting for the King against an army of Scots Covenanters, and, later, the New Model Army.

So one had the Covenanters fighting in Ireland against the Irish Confederacy, in Scotland against the Scots Royalists, and now and then in England too!

The Irish and Highlanders have been available for a while, so we now release the lowland Scots, Montrose Irish, and some humblies for the highlanders. Note the Scottish troops below wouldn't only be suitable for Covenanter armies but for several of Montrose's field forces as well. The humblies are the poorer chaps who tended to be given a polearm and stuck in the back ranks.

For Irish Brigade command, use the Confederate Irish infantry command set.

Sculpted by clibinarium, painted by Artmaster. Thanks guys!

How do these guys size up with Essex? My Cavalier and Roundhead forces are all Essex.

khurasanminiatures10 Feb 2015 5:55 a.m. PST

I think they'd size up ok, based on some Essex ECW I have. These are not big 15s like the Testudo stuff.

I already have the Irish Confederates and they are the smaller 15s -- fit well with Essex though definitely slimmer. Very nice figures!

Yeah me too and they fit just fine with Essex.

Some great figures there. Those lancers would do fine for Irish lancers and the guys with extra pistols in their boots are a tribute to Khurasan's eye for historical accuracy.

Liked these so much the first time, I thought I'd come back and give them a bump back to the top of the thread list.

Nice, though probably best to do without the 'humblies with polearms'.
