The CCancients.net site is fairly inactive. Looking for people to correspond with regarding GMTs game. Thanks, Jason |

Just started playing it last month. Enjoy playing it so far. |
cytaylor | 07 Feb 2015 6:22 p.m. PST |
I have played it in the past and like it, but haven't played lately. |
JonFreitag | 07 Feb 2015 7:03 p.m. PST |
I play CC Ancients with 6mm miniatures. If you want to see some 6mm games, visit my blog, link and click on the CC:Ancients Label. Great game! |
Martin Rapier | 08 Feb 2015 2:58 a.m. PST |
Play it a lot, with 20mm and (true) 25mm figures on Hexon terrain. |
BigRedBat | 08 Feb 2015 3:25 a.m. PST |
It's a great game system, and there are still people running battles at shows. |
Solzhenitsyn | 08 Feb 2015 6:43 a.m. PST |
I played quite a bit over the summer. Not so much lately, but really liked the game. |

Still playing, and the reprint of some of the expansions have recently come out. |
Jeigheff | 08 Feb 2015 7:32 a.m. PST |
I still have my copy of the C&C Ancients basic game. A buddy of mine wants to dust it off and play it some time, but we haven't done it yet. |
Mollinary | 08 Feb 2015 8:31 a.m. PST |
Yes, play it regularly, usually with figures, either 6mm (mine) or 15mm (my regular oppo). We tend to play the Epic games, but with only one player a side. It is a brilliant game and has provided hours of tense, nail biting, fun. Mollinary |

I have played it over the last few months with a friend and love it. It's a great system and fits in with our busy lives as not too long to complete a game. I've been collecting all the supplements and now looking forward to c and c ww1. Cheers Chris |
mikeygees | 08 Feb 2015 3:05 p.m. PST |
played it in 6mm
15mm
and 28mm

OK guys, I have Memoir '44 and C&C Napoleonics. Is C&C Ancients the best of them all? |
JonFreitag | 08 Feb 2015 3:41 p.m. PST |
@vtsaogames In my mind CC: Ancients IS the best of the lot. |

If anyone has any spare blocks or decals for sale or trade please let me know. I am always looking to flesh out my armies. Thanks jasonpasqualeAT yahoo DOT com |

Agree with Jon CC: Ancients is the best of the lot. Still enjoy the others, including Battle Cry (ACW). |
McWong73 | 09 Feb 2015 5:28 a.m. PST |
Respectfully disagree, Battlecry is still the best for mine. But I certainly rate Ancients second. |
Kenntak | 09 Feb 2015 6:44 a.m. PST |
In my opinion, the system is best suited for ancients. It offers a very reasonable, yet highly playable, representation of the diversity of troop types and ancient tactics. The other games in the series are fun, but ancients has the better depth, visuals, and overall gaming experience. |
thosmoss | 09 Feb 2015 8:23 a.m. PST |
I find all the systems just unique enough to be fascinating, if only in how a subtle change here or there makes the experience so completely different. A friend argues M'44 is the "best", because it is the simplest. The brilliance of the game can be lost in just a couple special rules here and there, and at it's heart M'44 stays truest of them all. Personally? So long as I get to play, I enjoy 'em all. |

And in the Ancients, the Greek expansion is my favorite. My son and I did all the Carthaginian scenarios, with some detours to other games,we've started on the Greek Wars. Like seeing the games with miniatures at shows, but don't have time or inclination to do that myself. Quite like the blocks. |
Mollinary | 09 Feb 2015 2:16 p.m. PST |
Simply the best! Better than all the rest! Mollinary |
Dale Hurtt | 10 Feb 2015 7:48 a.m. PST |
Battelore (First Edition) is the best of them all, even with the fantasy element taken out. Battle Cry is the weakest of them all. Memoir '44 is getting pretty involved, with some of the new scenarios, and the body of rules is getting rather large. The new WW I game is simply too expensive. $110 USD for the base game (with shipping)?!? |
BigRedBat | 10 Feb 2015 8:04 a.m. PST |
I loved C&C Ancients, liked Memoir but never took to Battlelore. C&C Napoleonics I enjoyed but found I needed to really concentrate very hard to play it; it is not so easy to play with a bottle of wine to hand. |
JeffGrein | 10 Feb 2015 12:41 p.m. PST |
I still play a lot. It is our go to game when we want to do something that is quick to set-up and play. Our group of 6-8 weekly players usually play at least once a month. Converting over to playing with 15mm figures on 4" hexes as well. |
dantheman | 11 Feb 2015 7:54 a.m. PST |
Played a lot of ancients. Doing Napoleonic now. Like the system overall and have all variants except Battlelore. Each has its own flavor to fit the market and period. The constant reprints by GMT gives testament to its popularity. |
Clays Russians | 12 Feb 2015 9:53 a.m. PST |
I love this game (both ancients and napoleonic) and can't play them enough, I have 2 sets of Russians for a borodino extravaganza at some point. The ONLY thing I changed rules-wise is I give a saving throw for Napoleonic troops. Places a more dynamic usage of troops in combat. |
cytaylor | 12 Feb 2015 8:06 p.m. PST |
I have played Ancients, but with miniatures. When using the wooden blocks, I assume you can't see exactly what the opponents troops are, correct? |
JeffGrein | 13 Feb 2015 12:13 p.m. PST |
No the blocks are double sided. I guess you could put stickers on only one side and play them standing up. I have always had the units open when playing. |
Dunedain | 07 Mar 2015 8:45 p.m. PST |
we have been playing quite a bit of CCA at Liberty here in Chicago using DBX based figs Much better than using blocks |
