Gentlemen,

I took delivery of a rather fine Master Box lancer the other day. He has been painted as one of the Red Lancers of Napoleon's Imperial Guard.

The figure was painted by a friend of a friend and is really superb.

I'm not sure if she is looking wistfully at the Lancer, as all the nice girls like a man in uniform, or simply waiting for this unwelcome intruder, still reeking of horse sweat, blood and gunsmoke, to be gone from her home.

Having been married, I can assure you that look is very much the latter.

And was that your piece in MWbBG about ammo supplies – if so, thank you. I found it really useful in crystallising my thoughts on the matter (which started with a set of rules (A2E I recall) that limited artillery and required
them to be rotated out of the line).

Now I need to find some suitable "markers" that the guns can be issued with to give to their opponents when they fire. I wonder if piles of roundshot would work (I reckon I could make those from small ball bearings).

Oops – off topic. Sorry

Does the Masterbox kit contain alternative pieces so that different poses can be built?

Or is the pose pictured the only assembly option?

Surely there is button or rivet counter out there who will point out that the shabraque is wrong? The N is only for Poles, there is no sheepskin here for 2e chev leg of the Guard…even if now Waterloo. The black strap on the Czapka, or however that is spelt? His dodgy aigulettes.

I hope you do realise that I am being sarcastic and this is very skilled painting. Also I seem to have posted twice.

How I wish we had more such relaxed poses in 28mm.

Is not the woman the best figure of the three? She is no beauty, but anyone can have a go at a "Dutch" Lancer or a bay horse…..she is very realistic indeed

Totally agree with MSerafin on the lady's expression.

Beautiful work!

I'd love to see some more "at-ease" sculpts like this (though my "detail scale" is AB's 18mm).
