First Command Wargames

Hosts ten games at Cold Wars 2015

Our wargaming rules focus on quick and simple mechanics. We want them to be easy to learn and to teach new players. We think players should be able to focus on the game and not struggle to recall complicated systems for moving troops, combat, or morale. Our rules are written both for the new player, taking control of his first command, or the veteran campaigner seeing his 100th battle…

If you are registering for Cold Wars 2015 (Deadline is Feb 13th), First Command Wargames will be present and hosting games from our Song of Drums and Tomahawk and For Queen and Planet rule sets.

Listed below are the games we will be hosting. Enjoy some great Age of Reason, Colonial and Victorian Science Fiction genre games.

F-335 – Treachery at Fort Michilimackinac Fri. 10:00 AM, 4 hrs, 4 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

It is 1763 and Pontiac's Rebellion is simmering. The Ojibwe and Sac Indians hatch a scheme to seize the fort. An intense lacrosse match is staged outside the fort, with some of the unsuspecting garrison coming down to watch. As the ball is tossed over the palisade, Indian warriors surge into the fort through the open gate. They seize weapons and the battle is on! Man-to-man skirmish.

F-336 – First Blood: Europeans vs, Native Americans Fri. 2:00 PM, 4 hrs, 8 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

DeSoto's expedition, the attack on Roanoke, Jamestown Massacre & Plymouth are staged alongside each other. These raids or attacks on farms are evidence of early contacts with Native Americans gone sour. Battles reflect upcoming expansions for Song of Drums and Tomahawks rules!

F-337 – Ohio Frontier Aflame Fri. 7:00 PM, 4 hrs, 8 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

War has come to the Ohio frontier, and the tribes are on the warpath. French and British schemes send European soldiers, frontiersmen, and Indians against each other's settlements. A sprawling, but fast-moving game that will feature a number of clashes occurring all along the Ohio valley. Man-to-man skirmish in the time of the French & Indian War featuring a palisaded fort, Indian village & more!

F-368 – The Second Battle of El Teb – Sudan – Feb 29, 1884 Fri. 7:00 PM, 4 hrs, 6 players GM: Tom Graves Colonial 15mm, Rules: For Queen and Planet: The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars

Osman Dinga was no fool! He had built extensive rifle pits and barricades around the hill town of El Teb and challenged the British to attack him. He had the misfortune of encountering British General Graham who was, at least his equal, and a commander that was not willing to have his men butchered in a frontal assault on a fortified position.

S-369 – The Battle of Ginnis – 1885 Sat. 9:00 AM, 4 hrs, 6 players GM: Tom Graves Colonial 15mm, Rules: For Queen and Planet: The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars

In northern Sudan on the border with Egypt, near the Nile River village of Ginnis, the British occupied a fort, which was under threat from Ansar forces and daily bombardment by artillery. Orders were made to reinforce the fort's garrison and eventually to launch a surprise dawn attack to dislodge the Ansar who were harassing the garrison and drive them from their proximity to Egypt.

S-338 – Ohio Frontier Aflame Sat. 10:00 AM, 4 hrs, 8 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

S-339 – Will Magua Kill Gray Hair Sat. 2:00 PM, 4 hrs, 4 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

Fort William Henry has surrendered, and Marquis de Montcalm gallantly allows the British and colonials to march out bearing arms. Magua's hatchet is not red yet, so his Huron's ambush the column. He vows to kill Col. Munro — Gray Hair — the man responsible for his enslavement and loss of his wife. Man-to-man skirmish inspired by The Last of the Mohicans.

S-370 – In Pursuit of Foreign Devils Sat. 2:00 PM, 4 hrs, 6 players GM: Tom Graves Victorian Science Fiction 15mm, Rules: For Queen and Planet: The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars

An allied force has recently relieved a small besieged community of foreigners and is escorting them toward safety. The Commanders hear reports of pursuit from Boxer, Imperial and Martian forces. While the allies could easily withdraw from the encounter, the civilians are a ball and chain around their ankles and no civilized commander would leave them to a terrible fate.

S-340 – The Clifftop Rescue Sat. 7:00 PM, 4 hrs, 4 players GM: Mike Demana and HMGS Great Lakes Sponsor: First Command Wargames Age of Reason 28mm, Rules: Song of Drums and Tomahawks

Inspired by Last of the Mohicans, war rages along the clifftops. A war party of Huron Indians lead a group of captives — including Cora and Alice Munro – to an uncertain fate among hostile people. Hawkeye and Chingachgook have rallied a force of survivors from the massacre at Fort William Henry to rescue the women and children. Mohawk warriors team up with English frontiersmen and battle Hurons.

S-371 – Sheltering among the Shells Sat. 7:00 PM, 4 hrs, 6 players GM: Tom Graves Colonial 15mm, Rules: For Queen and Planet: The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars

The Seymour Expedition has failed to relieve Peking. They are completely surrounded and deep behind enemy lines. No one knows where they are or what has happened to them. All in all, not the best military situation. They have discovered a secret Imperial Chinese armory stocked to the ceiling with ammo and lovely new German Krupp guns. They must have thought, 'God bless the Huns!'
