I've been commissioned by a friend to build a 1/35th scale model of a Soviet T-34 tank as a birthday gift for his son. For some reason he wants the tank to be from the 2nd Guards Tank Corps (I'm guessing because they fought at Prokorovka during Kursk). The 2nd Guards had the 25th Guards Tank Brigade, 26th Guards Tank Brigade, 4th Guards Tank Brigade, 4th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 47th Guards Breakthrough Tank Regiment along with a bunch of supporting units. Does anyone know what sort of numbers/emblems/insignia a tank in one of those units might have? Thanks! |

Dragon makes a kit with markings that includes something for 4th guards tank brigade. There's a review here: link |

Cool kit IDBI. The T34/85 was an after Kursk change to the T34 we all love. That version is more famous for Bagration. The SU85 took that type gun to Kursk but not in numbers we would really think and off the top of my head they were not deployed in the southern sector to make for Prokhorovka. I always steer off topic. I would look to the days for the clash and then see who was really present then try and hash out markings. Not just Guards had slogans. The Poles wrote nasty things too and they would not ever have that designation. JH |
