The group I play with have mostly late Dark Ages/Early Medieval (Hastings, 1st Crusade etc) and 30 Years War armies. We don't have much time these days for prep, and I was thinking about picking up something like As Told from the Greathall, Neil Thomas's One Hour Wargames, or one of Donald Featherstone's books? Any recommendations? Pros/Cons?

We mostly play on a 3x3 board.

Thanks,
Logain

Charles Grant has a reprint out of one of their Scenario books. The settings are period generic, but very good.
Check with OMM.

One Hour Wargames offers 30 generic scenarios laid out on a 3x3 board. Even if you don't use the rules, army generators, etc the scenarios alone are worth it in my opinion.

The nice thing about the scenarios in 1HW is that they are quick to set up and play. Thomas includes notes on the sources he has adapted them from. Some are historical, some are wargames classics.

The scenarios will play with armies from any era.

Scenarios for Wargamers and Programmed Scenarios for Wargamers both by CS Grant. Try also 'The Bun Shop Renaissance Scenarios (£2.50 on eBay) are also on 3x2 boards, just change the armies to approximate medieval forces. These latter are not equal points armies so offer more challenging games imo.

I just ordered the One Hour Wargames to mine for scenarios, and I'll have to finally pick up Grant's classic. I did find this when searching OMM:

I'll be posting historical TYW scenarios on my blog at about one a month once I get started.

The scenarios in the Fanaticus link would keep me going for quite a while just reading the background to them. Good link!

Yeah, thanks highlandbevan, that is an awesome website! I will have to check out OMM too, it's sounds like they carry some of good options.
