Got my book in the mail yesterday. I feel confident I could sit down and play a game through straight away. My first impressions are here. link |

Thanks John, that was a very useful review! I am quite tempted by these rules as I would like to fight out some of the big battles of the Napoleonic wars. So even though it says 1815-1900, is there any reason they wouldn´t work for, say, 1809? |

So even though it says 1815-1900, is there any reason they wouldn´t work for, say, 1809? Should work pretty well. The only downside is if you are fighting with armies that have their cavalry spread out in small units. Otherwise, with a little creativity, it should work fine. |

Aha, I hadn´t thought of that, but it shouldn´t be such a problem I suppose. Goody, I get to put these on my list! |

John, thanks for the review. I hope you'll enjoy playing BBB. I have dabbled with some Napoleonic BBB games and they felt right to me. Chris Bloody Big BATTLES link |

Joker, what size basing does BBB use? |

1" squares, I believe. I don't think that the basing is a big deal as long as both sides are based approx. the same. |

1" square is correct. Unit sizes are usually 3-7 elements and typically 4-5 elements. I am planning on modding the game for WSS. Baccus 6mm figures come on 2cm strips. So the convenient element size would be 2cm here. I don't really see that as being a problem. The author states in the introduction that units represent the center of gravity anyway. You could get away with VnB bases and mark hits on units instead. |
