"X-Men Under Siege painted figures" Topic

I spent a few months slowly painting up the 18 54mm figures from the boardgame X-Men: Under Siege for a friend, and have been fairly happy with the results. Thinking about painting up another set now for possible resale. What do you think people might pay for a set like these? It was a lot of work but obviously few can sell painted figures for anything approaching even minimum wage for the time spent, let alone material costs.

You did a great job with semi-static figs. I think you might make more money painting historic toy soldiers.

They are pretty static and 2-D, alright. It was a fun exercise, and a challenge, and broke the monotony of the historical painting that takes up most of my time. Some odd costumes and color designs with these. I varied the blues and yellows a lot to give some subtle variety. But yellow paint always seems to cover poorly, so it was tedious to paint several layers before I could get a good solid coat. The base figures are grey plastic that I primed with a white, plastics primer but even that let a lot of the grey through. I did not dare prime too heavily because the castings are not very sharp or crisp and losing any more detail would only hinder the painting.

Great job and I think that's the only time I've ever seen Cable without a giant gun.
