Hi All!

I've just photographed and posted the first 2 miniatures I've finished, for the Anglo-Zulu War and Mahdist Revolt, on my new Blog.

Very nice work indeed. Long may it continue!

Looks like a good start, the horse has some nice attention to detail on the legs and head, the blaze looks great. The officer has a lot going on and you separated it nicely.

Since you asked for some suggestions, an area I'd suggest focusing on is the skintone. A little more naturalism would be good and it would also help provide some contrast on the figures.

If your last step is an inkwash or stain of some sort, you might try painting the skin lighter than you want it to look in the end. Of course you can often go back and lighten it up after the wash depending on what you used- it might not work well with 'MinWax dip'.

Two great figures! Thanks for sharing.

Sobieski25 Jan 2015 4:35 p.m. PST

I like 'em. Ever do any smaller scale, suitable for wargaming?

That Russian Chick25 Jan 2015 5:59 p.m. PST

Hi Everyone, and thank you. :)

@Dr. Mathias – the skin tones are Vallejo Flesh Base, Secret Weapon Flesh Wash, and a slight highlight of Vallejo Medium Flesh. Perhaps I'll try another highlight step, thanx. No reason I couldn't do another highlight on these. :)

@Sobieski – well, I love 28mm the best, but I do have 15mm Flames of War to do, and some Epic Space Marine, Battletech, and historical Micro Armor.

The horses in 28mm from Perry and Empress are just so pretty, though.

I'm right there with Mathias… a bit lighter on the skin tone for some more contrast.

Otherwise very nice first effort.

I wargame in 28mm all the time.

But for the record, I like your horse, and hate painting them myself. Don't know why, I just loathe it.

@ J Womack – thank you.

I love horses, the quickest way to get me interested in a period for minis gaming is to show me cavalry.

I'm W-I-P on Hussars for the Sudan as well.

Hi All

I'm painting away still, I've re-done the face on Bromhead, and I'm waiting (& hoping on) some Sunshine to get better photos.

I'll have more Blogposts the 1st week of February. :)

Hey All! Just posted my re-worked Bromhead.
