This is my first time painting 28mm miniatures, starting with the Leib batallion command squad, would be nice to know what you think to my officer, and any tips on painting these models. Kind Regards
Tom.

Very good. You might enhance it by drybrushing dark gray. I believe the sash was yellow and white and the chinstrap silver.

As a relative novice still myself, I can only say you have chosen one of the most difficult colours to paint. (but well done!)

To paraphrase DoW;

Other than a white figure done

There is nothing worse

Than one in black…with the loss of so much…………aw you get the rest.

Brown shoes? In the City after six……..for a gentleman……..never!

I painted mine in both Peninsular and then Waterloo fashion. At Waterloo Brunswick officers would have worn the silver and yellow sash, in the Peninsula they wore the crimson british sash. I believe that's why Perry Minis come with two officers, two drummers, and two sergeants ina box.

As to the brown shoes, well, that would be inevitable with all those horses 'round Waterloo!

I think you did a great job.

Thanks for all the kind words and help guy's appreciate it! Since my first post I've managed to finish one command squad so thought I'd post a couple of pictures up! I think I'm going to go in the peninsular direction with these, I've yet to change the sash to crimson red but have replaced those mucky brown shoes with some nice black ones! :)

I think they are fine. It all depends on the viewing distances of course.

I would regard myself as an Army Painter now and paint figures accordingly for a typical wargame viewing distance.

Aw, I loved the brown shoes! In the country, but never in the City, and even then only before 6pm is acceptable for a gentleman……..

My evidence (if a little progressive for my taste);

Now the blood soaked sword……….? I trust he cut himself shaving, officers were really not meant to use their weapons in anger (they were very pathetic instruments generally)

Haha it's just some red dye klaus borrowed from the tailor, he thought portraying a mad rampaging French murderer would bolster his men's spirits… :)
