It Is Now At 3 Minutes To Midnight. "Founded in 1945 by University of Chicago scientists who had helped develop the first atomic weapons in the Manhattan Project, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists created the Doomsday Clock two years later, using the imagery of apocalypse (midnight) and the contemporary idiom of nuclear explosion (countdown to zero) to convey threats to humanity and the planet. The decision to move (or to leave in place) the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock is made every year by the Bulletin's Science and Security Board in consultation with its Board of Sponsors, which includes 17 Nobel laureates. The Clock has become a universally recognized indicator of the world's vulnerability to catastrophe from nuclear weapons, climate change, and new technologies emerging in other domains…" Full article here link

It looks like some people are trying to stay relevant in the media. Terrorists with nukes? Yeah, that's a problem. Man made global warming? Not sure that's even real. |

Exactly Mr Elmo. I bet this group gets a Nobel Peace Prize. I hear you can get them in cereal boxes now. (But only from Granola). |

This thing hast turned into a joke on itself. I go to Jimmy the Greek for predictions. |

It's been more than two minutes since this has been posted and nothing has happened. So much for my "End Of The World" party! |

"Man made global warming? Not sure that's even real." And I imagine that is why the clock has gone a bit closer to midnight. |

Dear Terrament Yes. But what is amazing to me is that this piece of absurdity, founded by scientists who built the Atomic Bomb, ignores the fact that thousands and thousands of atomic and thermonuclear weapons have been in the arsenal of Americ and The Soviet Union (perhaps the most heinous dictatorial regime in the West) and NOT ONE was ever used in anger, or used at all! That the Red Chinese have done the same, nor have Pakistan and India, who despise each other with a mortal hatred, have not used them on each other either. So after 70 years the clock has never gone down to 6 pm? Or that it may be a figment of academic hysteria has never occurred to anyone. Iran is making the bomb to use on ONE nation and ONE nation alone. Anti-Semitism is rampant in Europe and not from muslims only. College professors can exhibit blatant anti-Semitism as can certain Western world leaders with impunity. It should be renamed "The Next Holocaust Clock." |

Ummmmm, I expect they plan to use it on at least a couple, if not more, given their rants against the Great Satan and Little Satan. Clearly, that clock is broken, and worthless for anything other than collecting dust. |

The ones I worry about are the same ones who strap bombs onto themselves for a front row seat in their heaven. Someone willing to die for a belief is a person who will take millions with them. Sooner or later one of these delusion individuals will get a bomb and will set it off in a major population center. My money is the bomb being from Pakistan, either a bomb sold to some Arab nation and then lost or when the sloppy Pakistan bomb control system fails. Supposely the Saudis have bought several nukes from Pakistan to counter the Iranians. So something else to think about in the current regime change. |

"…but the climate alarmists will probably complain." Maybe we should switch from a clock to a sun dial. |

Hands up who here has scientific education comparable to those who set the clock. |
