I've just taken a couple of very quick snaps of some vehicles from Ainsty and some figures from GZG that I have been sent for review.
This first shot is of the updated and enlarged Blower tank destroyer (the M12A4). This has the main gun enhanced and moved to one side plus it has more armour. Size wise it is 95mm long. Also included in this shot are the special releases for GZG's CDF force for their use with the Thunderbolt Division link – the new half tracks are out and these are the specific infantry to go with them in one of three detachments (Panzer Grenadiers; Panzer detachment; or Infantry detachment) available direct from GZG or as detachment packs from Ainsty. They have new weapon choices with sub-machine guns and so forth (amongst other weapons, obviously) rather than assault rifles.
This second shot shows the other side of the M12A4 with its side mounted, more powerful weapon, plus the E8 ACV Combat Car transporter used by the Slammers for , err… moving Combat and Command Cars that are less than functional and also as an ad hoc infantry transporter for long trips. This is a long vehicle – a flat bed, non-articulated truck (165mm long by 38mm wide) and GZG plan some Slammers infantry to go into the load area of these. As you can see, the Combat Car fits on with a little room to spare and it comes with two metal cranes. Ainsty are just putting these into production (I literally got the first ones out of the mould) but they should be for sale at their usual price point of £8.00 GBP a go (Combat Car sold separately!). The CDF/Thunderbolt special figures are available (SG15-C20 and £3.00 GBP for 8 from GZG – as I said – as part of detachment boxes from Ainsty). The Tank Destroyers are useful as upgrades in a couple of different Slammerverse mercenary units (Broglie's Legion and the Flaming Sword of the Holy Brotherhood) and – now that an E8 has been made – I shall put them into a Slammers detachment list, asap. Have fun and keep Hammering! John Treadaway hammers-slammers.com |

JT…I hate you ;) Any plans about the smaller TD's that the Swords and others use? Thinking the old OC blower TD could be used as it's smaller, but if there is something coming soon…? |

Also to my eye looking at the pics on a mobile, these look smaller than the new blowers??? Probably just the angle and phone responsible… |

Nice! I was just looking at picking up 4 combat cars, now I can add in a couple Tank Destroyers! |

John I would love to see some Blower APC or MICV models built on that Tank Destroyer chassis. |

So, what was that force from "Paying the Piper"? Tank platoon, Combat Car platoon and infantry platoon with a single Wrenchmobile? |

Look brilliant! I don't usually go for hover vehicles, but I can see a place for he E8 ACV transporter in my universe as a cargo grav-sled. I'd love to see a version with double tracks or wheels! |

These new TDs are destined to be later in the timeline, nastier options, McWong: they are smaller than the new blowers but bigger than the photo makes them look. Glad people like them: I think they look pretty smashing, i have to say. John T |

Must get some of the GZG figure, like the Transporter (looks highly modifiable). The TD is nice but really don't like the powergun being so far offset, it should be mounted in the near or along the centre line. |

I don't think Powerguns have recoil, so it shouldn't matter if it's offset. |

Stupid question time…detachment boxes are paint-and-play TU for The Crucible? link |
John Treadaway | 23 Jan 2015 9:18 a.m. PST |
@Mark: not a stupid question at all! Ainsty has three (of the five possible) detachment boxes for the Thunderbolts that he can do at the moment as the small half track (the Viking):
… hasn't come back from the designer/printers yet. When that one is done (soon, hopefully) you'll be able to buy the other two units as boxed sets: the Reconnaissance detachment (4 vikings needed) and the Support detachment (2 vikings needed) as well as the other three. But yes, the idea is that – from the play sheet – Ainsty can supply everything except paint (ie tanks/figures/decals) for a detachment. Ainsty has other vehicles in the pipeline: a Slammer's Hog*, a lighter hover vehicle and a large, multi-part wheeled vehicle plus, hopefully, the heavy Tank and APC from the Forlorn Hope book. When he does the lighter hover vehicle, you will be able to buy complete boxed sets of the updated Broglie's Legion** and the Flaming Sword of the Holy Brotherhood as well (as he already has the jeep and now has the Tank destroyer) Let's hope it's sooner rather than later! John T PS: Warlock's right: limited kick on the powerguns (like lasers, in that respect, I guess) so the off-centre gun wouldn't be an issue. * to pretty much complete the Slammers line of vehicles ** actually to be named the 'ben Mehdi Legion' |

I really like the new GZG's CDF troops i have held off buying them in the past because they only have one code for a standard rifle pack, but know they have a few more poses i think ill start looking at them again. |

I really like the new GZG's CDF troops I think thy are some of the best mid-tech, mid-equipped troops available at the moment. John T |

Can any of these be used with 20mm? |
Legion 4 | 23 Jan 2015 2:36 p.m. PST |
Those a very cool models JT !!!!! I remember in one of the later Slammer stories, they used something like the E8 to transport Slammer Grunts. I made something similar in 6mm but more for supply tranport. Which could transport dismounted Slammers as well …
I may have to change some of those decals ! I call them the Dragonwagon Cgo GEV … More pics link The Rhino APC for scale …
These Dragonwagons could carry 20 troopers each. Any one who has been in the ARMY. Knows your 2&1/2 and 5 Ton cargo trucks in the Bn SPT PLT. Not only can carry beans & bullets, but Grunts if need be too ! |
John Treadaway | 23 Jan 2015 4:52 p.m. PST |
@Augustus: the TD is 95mm long or so (about the length of a Bradley in 1/72nd) and the hatches are big enough, I would say. So a smaller, Hetzer style of Tank destroyer might work with it. The length of the Wrecker would make it a good long vehicle in 1/72nd though both it and the TD will both be quite 'low slung' to the roof height. But still workable, I would say. @L4 – Thanks – you've done a splendid paint job on those wagons (as usual!) John T |

The Big Detachment play sheet for the Slammers including the option of the Ainsty Slammers Wrenchmobile is now available. PDF link. It is called Hammer's Slammers – Hi-Mobility Sheet 3
This allows the transportation of up to 4 infantry TU's en masse and allows these highly trained troops to fire from the vehicle if required, though with limited arcs. I'll be working on sheets for the new Tank Destroyer asap. John T |
