JJ, what did you think of True Grit, The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford, 3:10 to Yuma, and Open Range? I liked 'em all.

Jesse James died at the box office, but the other three were definite hits, especially True Grit, which did blockbuster business.

I've also heard good things about The Homesman and A Night in Old Mexico, but I haven't seen either one.

I loved Open Range, it had an authentic feel and look, and the final gunfight scene was marvelous--they even had to stop and reload!
Unforgiven was another "real-feeling" western with characters that weren't cardboard.
3:10 from Yuma was ok, but I was a bit irked at the change in the resolution from the original Glenn Ford/Van Heflin version.

looking forward to seeing The Homesman, though Ive heard its a bit "worthy", still its got tommy lee jones in it so cant be that bad.

Thinking about what terrement said – when was the last film with Indians? Son of the morning star was made for tv, wild bill had some nice cameos; but full on injun on the warpath type movies do we have to go back to dances with wolves?
