Rhetorical Question: Do you remember "The Last Starfighter" and how he was selected? Answer: He got the highest score in a video game." Here is were Paranoia sets in: "Lumosity" is an online "game" site that lets you "Challenge your brain with games designed by neuroscientists to exercise memory and attention." What you're actually doing is providing the government with detailed data concerning your knowledge, IQ and thought processes. And you're paying them for the privilege. On the other hand there is now a "service" that lets you submit a DNA sample and they will provide you with your "ancestry" i.e. where in the world your ancestors came from. Again you are paying to provide the government with a DNA sample they may not already have. The same goes for the home "Maury Show" i.e. the Home DNA test kit. |

Facebook is fantastic for governments, I mean no one is going to go on there and be subversive out in the open like… I mean no one is that idiotic.. Oh right! I forgot that most people are… |

What could possibly go wrong? Did you see all the people on the news last night, giving out their personal profile names and passwords? That was interesting, but not quite as good as those responding to what people thought of how MLK looked, and/or how his "live" speech yesterday went. Those responses were classic. |

LOL I was out with a bunch of Neuroscientists drinking after some high level meetings (kid you not) up in NYC. Their opinion of Luminosity was pretty scathing. "Absolutely Worthless" was the kindest review. And one was the head of Neuroscience at the University of Geneva and another from Johns Hopkins. Pretty funny stuff. |

Dear Mako11 I heard that on the way home and luckily I was stuck in a traffic jam otherwise I would have laughed myself into an accident-- or later gotten a huge case of road rage that people could be so stupid. See this is why abandoning feudalism was a bad idea. Some people just deserve to be looking at a Ox's all their life plowing the fields for their Lord. |

Just because you're paranoid; it doesn't mean that they're not out to get you. |

If you keep looking over your shoulder, you are either paranoid…or right! |

Why are there so many people worried what the government will do with the data we give google, or amazon, or Facebook, or etc. when they don't seem to care what the companies are doing with said data. |

Companies generally don't storm your house and cart your family off to undisclosed locations. Governments have, on rare occasions, done just that. |

Stryderg Except for drug cartels, robber barons, private "security" firms, mining companies and a host of other commercial enterprises companies have never in history done such things. |
